THREE LEVELS OF ENGAGEMENT
- Simply download a standard from www.qgstandards.co.uk and implement the processes/controls.
- Our verified self assessment option is straight forward, you complete the questionnaire that matches your organisation,
send it to a certification body (who will perform a number of tests) and upon their satisfaction you’ll be awarded the fundamentals/essentials award. - For those who require a higher level of assurance you can apply for the plus assurance level. This involves an onsite audit/test of the operating processes.

ABOUT US
QG Business Solutions can take a business with no documented management system to full ISO certification utilising our suitably qualified consultants. However, what makes the QG system stand out from other certifications is that you can opt for a 2 stage approach to achieving an ISO standard. The QG Management Standards sit between no system and ISO depending on the complexity of your business. Recognised by many public and private organisations, the QG Management Standards has helped hundreds of businesses win work through the tendering process. Once you have gained the standard, you can opt to continue onto full ISO certification, or like many of our clients stick with annual assessment against one of the QG Management Standards. Indeed there are a number of businesses that gained QG Quality Management Standard certification in 1994 who continue to operate to the QG Quality Management Standard without the need to attain ISO 9000.
QG CLIENT CHARTER
Our Vision:
QG Management Standards to be the UK’s alternative procurement certification for SMEs.
Our Mission:
We create and deliver fit-for-purpose management standards to support micro, small and medium size businesses
to win and retain contracts.
OUR HISTORY
Quality Guild was established in 1994 by Cumbria Training and Enterprise Council after extensive market research revealed a gap in the provision of Quality Management Standards for small and medium sized businesses. It developed a new ‘quality’ standard based on BS5750 that helped businesses win contracts from the public and private sector. It was also recognised in those early years that SMEs failed to have access to cost effective health and safety training, therefore sourced training for ‘members’ that helped them keep compliant.
In 2001, Quality Guild was transferred to Business Link for Cumbria and was delivered under the prestigious government brand for the following six years under the leadership of Chief Executive Brian Lightowler. In 2006, Brian Lightowler purchased Quality Guild and established QG Business Solutions Ltd. Since then, Quality Guild, now known as QG Management Standards has become a leader in alternative procurement standards to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSS 18001 and ISO 27001 across the North of England and Southern Scotland. Hundreds of businesses have won tenders through public and private sector procurement processes by meeting the QG Standards.
